Buttons!!

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Last week I blogged about the 3 poddy lambs we were given. With only 10% chance of surviving, I didn't know if there would be a follow-up blog, but here we go one week on. We have one survivor! I have called him "Buttons" - sadly there's no reason why it's buttons (no his eyes don't look like buttons!), it just came into my head when I was calling him on Sunday!
Thankfully I hadn't gotten too attached to the other lambs - knowing their chances of survival, but I am definitely attached to Buttons now- & he thinks I'm his mum - he is currently outside "baaing" for me ( I like him to go outside if the day is warm enough as he is starting to nibble on the grass).
I think that a poddy lamb is like having a dog - where ever I go, he goes. When I go & do the other animal jobs - he follows along. The best thing is that he doesn't chase the chooks etc. He loves playing with the kids & I think he thinks it's unfair that the cat is allowed inside with me!! He is also over night time feeds - which is good, so maybe my eyes will stop looking so tired!!

Oh my goodness, he's just so adorable. I have a soft spot for lambs now, but I doubt that they make good pets in the city.

My youngest daughter's name means lamb in Hebrew. Or so I'm told anyway.

What a special treat for your family. The kids will remember it for a long time.

It makes me think of the parable of the lost lamb, when the shepherd left the other 99...
