Sports Carnival!!

Saturday, June 7, 2008

Yesterday was Zai's school's sports carnival. The kinder & year 1 students had a "mini carnival" after lunch. Here is a sneak peak into the program:

1. Individual races - Zai came 2nd in his!

2. Relay - Zai's team (red) won!

3. Egg & spoon (well really ping pong ball & spoon) relay race - red team won!
4. Sack race relay - Red team came 2nd due to a faulty sack!
The cheer squad on the sidelines!!
5. Dress up relay - red team won! (yes it is Zai under all that)
The kids found a better use for the high jump mats!!

Zai was chosen to represent red team for the "infant school" relay in the big kids carnival. Unfortunately he tripped over, but quickly picked himself up. It didn't matter however as his teammate (who he was meant to pass the baton onto) had already started running when the other teams had arrived at that point, so they went on & actually won the race ( complete with drink bottle - that some quick thinking parent had substituted for a baton!)!

WELL DONE ZAI ZAI!!!

(unfortunately red team actually came last in the overall carnival - but much fun was had by everyone!!)

How fun! Zai looks like he's having the time of his life! He's the cutest little boy too--it's the eyes, I think.

You got lots of really thoughtful comments on your post about school worries. Are you feeling any better about it now? Have you considered homeschooling? I've been on the fence about it for so long, I wish I could just decide already!

don't worry - this athleticness won't last - if he's realated to us anyway. Remeber nita - age champion grade 4, barely able to walk home from the busstop grade 11. She does have trendy glasses though, and she will be helping out at bookfest tomorrow (with me) so she has turned out much better now that she is no longer athletic.

Zai, you look like you had so much fun at your sports carnival...Grandad was very impressed with the photo of you running - he thought you looked like a very good runner!!!
Red is a good colour to wear too (just ask aunty Corina - she has about 10 red shirts!!!)
I'm so glad that you had a great time at the carnival - they can be so much fun - especially if you participate in them!!
Lots and lots of love from Grandma xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
