Church in the Bush!!

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

Since moving here, we've been hearing about "church in the bush" - & finally on Sunday we got to experience it!!!
It literally is in the bush - which there is plenty of around here!
The whole church goes & we break off into 4 groups & each act out some passage of the bible - this year it was sections from David's life. We then all have a picnic lunch together!

Here Ellie is being one of the "sheep" that David was shearing before he went off to kill Goliath!

Zai took a speaking role as Abner - one of king Saul's men! I was one of the "sleeping soldiers (purple shirt) - yes it took a lot of acting for that part LOL . Unfortunately Eli & Jud thought it was playtime (the only time I get down on the ground is to play with them), so they were jumping on my tummy the whole time (& giggling)!

We have been so blessed to join this church - they are just so welcoming & inclusive & there are many strong Christians amongst the members. This is one of our favourite friends - one of the most beautiful Christian ladies I've had the honour to meet. All my kids love going for rides on her scooter with her! (but my - who owns such grubby babies????!!!)

Church in the bush is lots of fun - can't wait til next year!

Wow, this is really cool! We have nothing like this here. Acting out Bible stories (outside even!) is a fun and memorable way for kids (and grown-ups) to learn God's Word.

I was going to say something similar to Heather. What a wonderful way to bring the Bible to life. I know your kids will recall these chapters/lessons of the Bible for sure.

How fun...if we did it, it would have to be church in the bushes...as we have no bush in CT.

What an amazing sleeping soldier you were!!!! Were they friends or foe jumping on you (or sheep or what?????). Glad you all had a great time. I can see why they all look forward to it....We're so glad that you've settled into a good church and made lots of friends. Lots of love to the sheep, Abner & sleeping soldier...(what was Dave?) xxxxxxxxxx

That looks like fun to me, too. The kids love to see the adults join in to stuff like that. It really binds them together. Your kids are so very cute.
