Maternity ward...

Hot Chocolate is one of the first lambs we received from our neighbour just over a year ago. For the last few days I've been noticing she's been acting strangely - she's usually right in the flock, but since the weekend she's been keeping to herself & staying in the paddock that borders the house yard. Definitely strange for her as she's never been that attached to us (not like some of my girls who love cuddles!!)- I didn't actually think much of it, but yesterday when I was letting the chickens out of their cage I looked over at her:
"What's that under Hot Chocolate?" I thought...

That's right she's given birth - our "little cow" paddock had become a sheep maternity ward. And not just one but TWINS!!!!!

The worst thing is:
We didn't even know she was pregnant!?!?!?!

Not that we mind - they are just so cute! We haven't gotten too close yet - we don't want to disturb her bonding - but all signs so far show that she's a good mother - she's feeding both lambs well!!!

I love the fact that they're not white - isn't the spotted one the cutest??!?!

Oh I can't wait to have a cuddle!

Congratulations!!!!!! Aunty Nity was very excited to hear she was a grandma!!!!! Are the coloured/spotted sheep any good for wool???? (Sorry, my city upbringing is showing!) I should probably ask Granny, mind you she's very urban now - you know the coffee shop scene etc!!) They're very cute. Hope she continues to be a good mum and that they survive the rest of winter (I guess that's why God gave them wool - to keep warm in the cold!).
Lots of love to all

Aren't they just the prettiest little lambs?!
Such a clever mama to have them all on her own and look after them so well. I sure wouldn't know how to help her if she had needed it!
Congratulations!

Mayabe human expectant mums should wear thick wooly jackets so no one can tell how pregnant they are ;)
Aren't they cute? The lambs, I mean. What are you going to call them? Milo? Latte? Mocha? I like the idea of Baby Cino. Congratulations to everyone, especially Hot Chocolate.
