To my twin sons,

Monday, March 8, 2010

** This post is for yesterday - 4 years since our TTTS surgery - because the boys had phase 4 TTTS, we had a huge chance of losing one or both babies - if they survived, they were at high risk of having cerebral palsy. **

To my dearest sons Eli & Jud
On the 4 year anniversary of our twin-to- twin transfusion syndrome laser surgery that saved your lives - 7/03/06.

4 years ago...I wondered if you would ever be able to talk

Today... you lie next to me & chat about all kinds of interesting things.
4 years ago...I wondered if you would ever walk by yourself

Today... you run & walk & jump & dance & play to your hearts content.

4 years ago...I wondered if I would ever be able to hold you

Today... I can get a cuddle any time you'll sit still enough!
4 years ago... I wondered if you would ever know your twin
Today... I'm listening to you play cars together - the best of friends.

4 years ago... I wondered if you would ever know your siblings

Today...you love them to pieces & want to do everything with your big brother & sis!

4 years ago... I wondered if you would get to know your mummy

Today... you run to me for comfort & love many times each day.

4 years ago... I wondered if you would get to know your daddy

Today.. you follow him around & try to imitate all he does.

4 years ago... I wondered if you would be able to survive birth

Today... your heart & brains are healed & you are free from all major complications (praise God).

4 years ago... I wondered how many babies I would bring home from hospital - if any

Today... I feel blessed with almost 4 years of having both of you at home.

4 years ago... I held you within my heart

Today... I still do & always will

Your lives are such a blessing dear sons
Use them for God!

Those boys and their wonderful operation hold a special place in my heart and in the others from work. Katie often asks after the boys.
It's amazing that it's been 4 years and more amazing that they are whole and healthy and here.
I found TTTS in a set of twins last week, so your story often hits home to me.
Love to you.

Oh what a beautiful post Renata - I can share in the joy you express being the mum of four year old twins who are also the best of friends and never stop talking. Twins are just a constant reminder of God's abundant blessing. I hope my girls get to meet your boys one day - they love being with other twins.
