Flowers, flowers, flowers...

September each year generally finds us in Canberra for church camp.  This is a wonderful time to visit that beautiful city & we always enjoy getting the most of our "city fix" while there.  We have started the tradition of ending the weekend with a family trip to Floriade.  Floriade is basically a flower festival held in the middle of Canberra - it's absolutely breathtaking no matter how many times you attend.

It was such a perfect day for it - the sky was blue, the sun bright & the flowers a complete delight to the senses!

I love pansys (although so do chickens - they eat all the flowers  - ask me how I know!) I have never seen black ones before though!
One of the pavilions had different costumes displayed - I just love these dresses - wouldn't you just love to put one on & travel back in time....

 This one is my favourite...

There was various entertainment & art displays - even life sized zebras!!!
(I so wanted to put the children on them, but there was a serious looking guard standing just behind them - don't think he would understand the importance of a good photo!)

Just acres of flowers everywhere - you can imagine how delightful the scent was in the air...

The red tulips are always breathtaking - this year was no exception...

Of course our rose amongst the flowers!

If you get the opportunity to visit Floriade - I highly recommend it.  Such a wonderful, free, family day!

Have a wonderful day

My favorite flower is a Tulip! Love them soooo much. I am so envious of you all. Almost enough to trade your Spring for the beautiful fall we're having.

Yes I remember a trip to floriade many years ago, though I seem to remember there was an entry fee.
Yes, the whole place is magnificient, and you have captured it so beautifully.

Wow! I love the close-up of the red tulip - what a neat background effect. And you do have a rose in your family of ... boys, don't you? :)

The blue dress looks very similar to my prom dress! Mine was emerald green with black laces up the front.

And yes, wouldn't it be great fun to dress up in one of these dresses .... just for a wee while!
