A good old~ fashioned meme!

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Do you remember way back in the good old days of blogging when every second post would (or at least could) have been a meme?  When they were flying around this artificial world so thinkly that you really couldn't escape them?  When you really didn't have to strain your brain to think of what to write about because there was always a list of questions to be answered?    It seems that they've slowly wavered off over the time, however someone has raised one from the brink of extinction & I was tagged by the wonderful Debi of 'who says 8 is enough?'  And so the fun begins :)

The (bendable) rules:
You must post these rules.
Each person must post 11 things about herself on his/her blog.
Answer the questions the “tagger” listed for you in her post, and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
You must choose 11 people to tag and link to them in the post.
Go to each blogger’s page and mention that you have tagged
him/her.

1. Word association. I say “tender”, you say ______________.
Precious or sweet.

2. What is the most important virtue you possess?
I found this fantastic list of virtues and it is something to think about....hmmmm... I have prayed for so many of these over the years ( some even daily such as wisdom & patience).  I would have to say that the most important one to me is faith because my faith in God is what my life is all about.  I would be nothing & no one without my faith in the Lord.  It is what makes me me, it is the very core of my life.  I think we need to realise that nothing else in life is definite, nothing else in life will last, but only our faith in the One that lasts is what will matter in the end.

3. Favorite song and why?
I have a few.  I love the old hymns which have the gospel message right through, but my favourite more contemporary song would have to be 'Green beans in the garden' by the West Ladies (I have both their CD's & appreciate all their songs)!  I  love that it reminds you to be thankful for the little things in life!

4. If you had to choose someone from the Bible that most closely represents you, who would it be?
Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to say Jesus?  Unfortunately I cannot attest to that (sigh).  I would have to say I've always felt a kinship with  Martha ~ maybe it's because I do always seem to be busy, or maybe it's because I fuss  when visitors come over trying to get things 'just right'.  I do hope I have a Mary heart though & want to learn from the Lord, but sometimes I do let things get in the way all too easily.

5. A quote or inspirational verse that you turn to when times are tough.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart
   and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6
~So many times when life hasn't made sense over the last year I've turned to this verse~

6. What is your favorite recipe?
One of my favourite ones I'm looking forward to this autumn is my pumpkin soup recipe  (found HERE).  As much as I adore the warmer weather of summer & wouldn't want it to shorten at all with only a week left of this season we know that soup weather is almost here!
Oh weren't they so cute ~ messy, but cute!

7. Most dramatic childhood memory.
My sisters & I ( I was early teens) were walking home from the park one evening with some friends after a community Christmas party.  We had checked the road carefully & were walking across.  I was walking just behind my little sister EJ when out of nowhere a car came zooming fast as you can around the corner.  She began to run into it's path ( thinking she would get across as our friend who were a few steps in front did~ which she wouldn't as the car was flying ).  I grabbed her shirt & have no recollection of the rest, but we ended up back on the footpath behind us & she was standing behind me!  I still get chills thinking of how close that one was.

8. (for a school throw-back question) If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?
I would think an old apple tree... I hope that there are times of beauty ~ both in the blossoming(spring) & the losing of unhealthy parts (autumn), I know that there are times of no beauty (winter) ,  & there are times of bearing & giving fruit ( summer).  I hope my fruit is pleasing to the Lord.

9. If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?
My weight ~ how I wish I had the tiny petite figures of some of my sisters ( grrr... genetics are unfair aren't they :) or even my pre babies figure again!

10. Coffee? Iced, frozen, hot or not?
Definitely essential ~ every day ( OK, OK I know I gave it up for my 30th, well in this last month I changed my ideas ~ I took up drinking coffee again & joined facebook ( want to be my friend??!!??) and pinterest ( which I just love)).  I always drink my coffee cold ( I don't like hot drinks ~ other than in the middle of winter) . My favourites are frappes, but I don't have them daily ( imagine the sugar), so I just have a coffee shot half frozen & then milk added ~ I'm reducing the sugar I use with the intention of not having any in it very soon!

11. A moment in time that changed your life?
That moment when I was told....well let's go back to the start:

It all began with our little Zai praying (well this story began there anyway).  He was only all of 3 & so very cute.  We had found out we were expecting our third baby just a few weeks earlier & he began to pray out of nowhere for our new baby ~ but instead of praying for the baby he prayed for "the babies in Mummy's tummy" ~ my little prophet ( I think we named him well).
After much laughter & joking with my Mum over my cute little boy ~ fast forward one week.  We had a scare & since I had no troubles with either of my other pregnancies I was terribly worried & so was the dr as he ordered an urgent ultrasound.  We headed straight to the radiology clinic & I was ushered right in.  The sonographer quickly put the probe onto my abdomen & then turned the screen straight to me ~ I knew this was a good sign & my relief was evident.  Such a wonderful thing to see a healthy, happy kicking baby there.  Then she smiled at me " You know there's two in there don't you?"   I will never forget that moment in all my life ~ it still brings tears as I think about it.  As we looked at these two perfectly forming, healthy, kicking identical babies within me I truly felt like the most blessed woman in the whole wide world!
At about 25 weeks with my twinnies ~ you should have seen me by 34 !!

I had so much fun calling Mum ( & everyone ~ I was put on bedrest for a few days) & telling them about how Zai was right ~ what a time of celebration!!!

If you would like to join in, please consider yourself tagged ( aren't I terrible ~ I can never decide on just 11 people and I don't want people to feel obliged if they don't want to).

My Questions for you:

1.  If you have a faith in the Lord, how did you come to faith?
2.  Do you really keep it real on your blog?  Have you ever tidied before a photo ?
3.  If you could undo one thing in your past, what would it be?
4.  What was your favourite childhood story?
5.  Favourite flower?
6. What is something new you've tried in the kitchen lately?
7.  What position do you come in your family ~ ie are you a firstborn, second etc?
8.  Mary or Martha ~ who do you relate to more?
9.  What is a moment that you will never forget?
10.  Favourite Bible verse?
11.  I've been reading Anne of Green Gables series & she talks about kindred spirits ~ who do you think of as a kindred spirit?

I hope you have fun!
Blessings

I can just imagine what a life-changing moment it would, being told you're having twins. How amazing that your son seemed to know it was twins before you did!

I often feel sorry for Martha. I can understand her dilemma (although obviously Jesus knew what was in her heart) and sometimes think she was a bit hard done by.

My husband is insistent we are having twins. :) I'm about 6 weeks and have to go in for a dating scan soon (usually I dislike early ultrasound, but I'm irregular and, if the same complications appear as last pregnancy, we can't risk being two weeks off and accidentally inducing a 34 week old who we thought was 36 weeks.)

So I suppose I'll find out then!
