Miss Eight

Thursday, April 12, 2012

It's hard to believe that our precious daughter has turned eight.  Eight seems like such a big age ~ the next stage in growing up.  I'll admit that her excitement at getting older was only tampered (in my head) by my disbelief that our little girl could possibly be this age & be leaving those 'little girl' stages far behind (wasn't it yesterday that she was a bubbling 4 year old??)!
Enjoying her ballerina calender ~thanks Aunty EJ!
I remember when I found out I was pregnant with her.   I'd thought we'd wait for a 2 year gap, so you can imagine my surprise to find out I was pregnant again when Zai was only 10 months old.  For a young mother who was adjusting to motherhood, to find out I was going to have another baby filled me with wonder, but also trepidation.  I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to handle 2 babies so close in age ( yes, I think God was preparing me for our twins). I was also worried that the complete & total love I felt for my little Zai wouldn't be able to be shared.    Even though I'd grown up in a big family & had adored each of my little sisters, I still didn't realise that a mothers' love is truly multiplied with each addition.  My Mum tried to tell me that it would be alright, but I carried this fear right into delivery ( 16 days after her due date).  It was only once I saw my beautiful, big (8lb10oz is big for our family) girl (who looked just like a 'little Renata' & still does) that I knew I loved her just as much as I loved her brother!  Mother love is so amazing!

A very dodgy 'tea party' cake ~ but she still liked it!
So little Ellie joined our quickly growing family & right from the start she & Zai were the very best of friends.  It has been so wonderful watching this friendship grow & develop over the past 8 years.  What a precious pair they are!  She adored her twin brothers when they came 2 years later & is such a wonderful big sister to them (at the moment she is sitting reading them a story) .  She organises them & looks after them (& I can imagine this will continue)  ~ they just love her so much!

Happy Birthday beautiful girl!

Now our Ellie is not so little ( although still quite small for her age), but she is still very sweet. In fact as she gets older she is just growing sweeter ~ you can see the love of the Lord shining in her life!   She loves pretty, girly things of which I am so thankful :), but she is also able to keep up with her brothers.  She is growing more helpful as she gets older & can now cook a cake independently & is definitely a big help around the house (it's worth those years of training your little ones :)!  Now she is eight she is learning to drive here on the farm & she just loves learning this newest skill ( Daddy does all the driving lessons (smile)).

I am so glad God decided to give us this daughter in His timing.  What a blessing she has been & will continue to be in our lives!

Happy Birthday Miss Ellie!

Blessings

Happy birthday to your sweet girl Renata. Don't worry I have made a few 'dodgy' cakes over the years too but isn't it amazing that our children don't seem to mind as long as we don't forget the candles!
I remember when my eldest daughter was eight. She takes her driving test for real next month. She even has her own car - a double cab ute and even though we no longer live on a farm she's turned out to be a real farmgirl. Wonder if this will happen for your girl? I bet she passes her driving test first time (just 8 years to wait!) Enjoy the rest of your holidays!

Thanks for sharing our lil Darling's special day with us all!!! Told you, you can love more than one kiddy, but I did so remember being worried about having enough love to share between 2 littlies! God is very gracious! Her cake is lovely too!!!!! I loved my chat I had with the boys the other day (how did the shopping centre construction in little missies bedroom go?????) Very busy this week with my intensive at QUT, but it is very good - a good idea having it over the week! And got my assignment in after doing my presentation - went well. Will call on the weekend - miss you all sooooooo much. Just to make you a tiny bit jealous - I love my new eReader.....it is amazing! Aunty Sel wanted to take it with her on holidays to your place......I suggested she get her own! I've downloaded books from our library, uni library and puchased a couple...Anyway, very tired cos I was up til after midnight last 2 nights with assignment. Love you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxx (even more than my eReader ;-))xxxxx
