This Christmas...

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Sleepily she stumbles into the room....rubbing her eyes trying oh, so hard to focus them. She slowly raises 2 fingers (every thing's a little slower in the morning for this one) & croaks out in a 'first use of the morning' voice, "two more days!?" She looks intently at me to make sure she is correct. As I nod my head at her, the excitement lights up her beautiful big brown eyes!

I remember when I was her age counting down. I remember the excitement of Christmas. I remember the fireworks leading up to Christmas, the Christmas carols we attended, the anticipation as each day drew closer. I remember my sisters & I counting down, waiting, waiting, waiting for Christmas morn... much as my children now are.

This year we won't celebrate on Christmas day with extended family, yet God has provided a new family - our church family who will not leave us lonely, but instead make sure we are not alone on this special day of celebration.

This year (& every year) as we celebrate we thank God for His precious Son - our Saviour, Jesus!

This year we enjoy the blessing's God's given us.

Sure we will miss our family (trust me, the tears will flow), but we will also thank God for new friends He has given us!
A wise friend told me "Christmas is what you make it". Well I choose to make it a fun celebration of our Saviours' birth!

Wishing you & your family a very Blessed Christmas!

Love the Sunnyside Family XO
