The end of year dance concert is a much anticipated event here at Sunnyside (at least by Miss Ellie - certainly NOT by Zai who took a book along to it & had finished it by the time Ellie's dance came along). Much work has gone in all year to learn the steps & positions for their special dance. Then it's the big night (or actually 2 nights plus 2 dress rehearsals). It's time to let Mummy get all girly & have fun getting her ballerina ready!
STEP ONE:
Hair - not the traditional bun this year, but a braid that reached back into a bun! (Thankfully Mummy had 4 sisters, so knew how to do this type of braid). A bit of sparkly hairspray adds some bling!
STEP TWO:
Make-up - Ellie loves this as it is the only time she is allowed to wear makeup! We were told bright lipstick - I never wear bright lipstick, thus the terrible application job!
STEP THREE:
Costume! This year they varied from the traditional tutu & wore a dress over their leotards - They also had a beautiful rainbow scarf - very applicable as their dance was "Somewhere over the rainbow".
Ellie danced beautifully & we are so proud of our ballerina! I am so thankful to have a daughter who enjoys getting dressed up & letting me play with her hairstyles! She is so much like her mummy in that area.....

she is just beaming and you have done a very lovely job getting her to look so nice!
Aww lovely. Isn't it wonderful to have a daughter as well...
Tell her she looks gorgeous!
Love, Anne x
How precious! I danced growing up, and currently teach baton. I know all about the recitals . . . and the makeup! I am glad you all were able to share in it together! :) Great times for Mamma and Daughter!

How Cute!!! She looks like a doll!
She is so beautiful Renata!! You are blessed to have a girly girl in that big family of boys. :) Glad she enjoyed herself- getting out on stage is one of the greatest joys!!
Miss Ellie looks just gorgeous and you can see the gleam in her eyes which shows just how much she loves her dancing.
Had to laugh when you mentioned the poor lipstick application. I have the same problem because I almost never wear lipstick at all, and Ducky always has to have red RED lipstick for her performances. I'll be glad when she can put it on by herself.
Ducky is getting very excited as the weekend for her dance recital draws nearer.
Congratulations for a successful performance! She looks lovely and full of grace! (Love the little Angelina Ballerina, too)
Hooray for your little ballerina!
I can't do hair, so I would be in trouble.
Oh Ellie looks soooo gorgous!!! And that top photo of her looks just like you in the photo on your profile!! Give her a big hug from me, and tell her I'm looking forward to seeing her dance video when I am down there next.
Much luv,
sel
What a cutie!! My girls were not ballerinas which is a good thing I just decided. I cant do up hair if my life depended upon it.
Wonderful Renata. I really struggled with buns for a long time, luckily the teacher gave me a lesson and insisted it be done every week and then I got the hang of it.
Wow! What a special event and beautiful little ballera.
That was supposed to say ballerina not ballera. Yikes! Sorry.
Thanks for your comment - actually the Ameraucana's are very quiet they just FREAK if you try to get near them. The Bovans are the ones they come to the door and practically beg for treats!
Your daughter looks adorable!
