I'm back - from Sunny Queensland!!!

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Out here in the country everyone goes away in January for their annual getaway. It's a quiet time on the farms, so it's easy to slip away for a couple of weeks. Dave's work also shuts down for this time, so we decided to take the opportunity to head back to Qld where both sets of our parents are. We sure had a busy time! We spent a fun day at the Buderim ginger factory (although it sure was HOT & Humid!!!)
We spent the first 5 days at the Sunshine Coast - right on the beach - I was able to get my beach fix - sand, sunscreen, surf & sunburn (would you believe I didn't take any photos that whole time?!)!!! After that we went up to beautiful Gympie & then down to Brissy where we caught up with lots of people- we sure had a great time!!
This is at Gympie -it sure is beautiful there - & green!
The kids went exploring in the trees with their friends!

So what will this year hold for us? Well I wish I knew - we plan on planting 100 odd acres this year & under sowing with clover or another pasture, so then we can purchase more animals - our aim is to finally make our farm into a viable business instead of just hobby! I hope to loose weight (well this is a new years resolution I've made each year since I can remember - even when I was at my skinniest!). We want to get the cabin done, so it's easy for guests who aren't used to having lots of little kids underfoot to fell more comfortable on their holidays here!

Sel, when you pose for a photo like this - you're just asking for it to go on the blog!!!
We're trying to find her a husband - any takers!!!!(JUST JOKING!!!)

Soon a neighbour is dropping off another lamb for me - it seems I now get given all our neighbour's potty lambs to take care of (not that I mind as I still have one on the bottle, so feeding 2 takes only a little more work!!) As for the weather - it's boiling here!!! (it must be 40 degrees Celsius) It's rare that it's hot in our house because it is well insulated, but today it's so hot I've even turned on the air conditioning (which I rarely use)! At least this afternoon is another swim club training session, so we can all get a cool down at the pool!!
We arrived home to find these:
Yes, Gingy had her kittens - apparently she had 6, but she has only 2 left, although I'm not really surprised as she is a terrible mother - she forgets where she leaves them & leaves them for hours on end. They sure are cute - anyone want a pet??? (Yes, I know I said I would destroy any, but they're just too cute for that!!!- Dave & I are both just softies!)

I hope you all had a great Christmas & New Year. I look forward to catching up on your lives over the next few days (well it would probably take weeks, but I'll try!!)

I missed you too! Glad you're back.

Gingy's kitties are adorable. I would gladly take one, except my husband would have a fit. He says Pumpkin is more than enough.
