Creation Walk...

On Friday instead of doing our workbooks for school, I decided we would go on a "creation walk". The weather was perfect. The sky was a beautiful blue & it was the kind of day just begging for you to go out & enjoy it!! I did give Zai & Ellie books - their new "creation journals" where they had to draw pictures of different things they saw.

Since we've had such a dry end of winter into spring, the spring blossoms aren't as prevalent as last year -in fact it's starting to have that summery dead look already :( . The children's job was to look for the little things.

We found this patch of wildflowers up in Churchill Forest - we tried to get everyone set up for a picture:

Unfortunately this is what kept on happening!!!


We looked down the rabbit holes (of which we have more than our fair share).

Some of the trees are huge!!

(Of course I know this one's dead, but I just love the contrast of the blackness of the iron bark against the blue sky!)

We found some kind of fruits (in fact there are a couple of trees like this) - does anyone know what they are?

We tried to get some running shots....

.....but the boys always ended up rolling in the lush grass!

I decided that nature journals are best for girls...and boys..well they just love using up their excessive energy.

Snowy loved swimming in the "swimming dam"!

The water was a little chilly for us humans!

Although Missy did put her toes in for a short while!

We sat down in a clearing & sang songs & then practised our writing using rocks in the dirt!!

All in all we had a fun time!!!

I love this next picture. Zai & Eli & Jud are starting to get along so well (with such similar interests) & I love watching their interactions (even though there's more than enough wrestling that goes on in this household....sometimes I wonder why I got three boys!!!)

What a fun way of doing school for a change!!!

I'm so proud of how well Zai & Ellie have adjusted to home school. We still feel it's one of the best decisions we've made for our family at this time!

I have a house to clean as I have guests coming this week & then next week (does anyone want to help me??!!??!!). I had better stop this procrastination - one of the things I am oh so good at!! LOL
