lighter, brighter & funnier...
well actually none of the above as all I did was visit people & sit around & talk & eat (there goes any chance of being lighter). Of course after a 2 day car trip it takes a week or so to get any "brightness" back & as for funnier - well I still have the same sense of humour God gifted me with ( sadly aided only by the tiredness I'm feeling right now, so I may actually think every thing's funnier!!)
So the holiday...well I would have to say it was probably my favourite holiday yet. I managed to catch up with LOTS of friends & family - in fact when I showed Dave the schedule I kept (to keep the visits sorted of course) he just shook his head - but hey I had such a great time (& of course the children did as well). The only down side was the medical thingy & that's just a corrective measure - nothing life threatening, so other than costing lots of $ it didn't really hinder the holiday!
Not sure who this crazy lot are who's pictures came up on my camera!!!LOL

Of course when your teenage sisters' are in another state than you....well than you can post this kind of picture!!

One of my closest girlfriends & her family live up at beautiful Gympie. We had a lovely overnight visit with them (they're brave to invite just me with all the kiddos). I've always thought their farm is one of my favourite places!
Zai showing off his hunting method (don't worry it's not real!)
We also got to see the beach....yay the beautiful, lovely beach. Unfortunately it was much too cold even for my southern tootsies, but the children managed to have a nice swim.
This is my Granny - I love her very much & am so glad to get such a nice picture of her!
I had a laugh when I looked at this picture - do you think I'm related to her???
Such a beautiful day it was - I couldn't resist snapping some landscape pictures (well you know me). I'll just include one of the many.
And just to verify my claim... yes the children were swimming.. in jeans none the less - unfortunately I didn't know that it was going to be 30 plus degrees celsius most days (got up to 36 degress one day - of course that was before the a/c in my car was regased - I mean you go on a winter's holiday who thinks of getting the a/c repaired before you leave!)that we were up there and I packed only for winter... well anyway they may have been generally overdressed, but at least they didn't complain ( I did buy some summer clothes!!) I guess it may have helped with the chill factor of the water!
What a wonderful time. Unfortunately my camera battery went flat after only a week up there, & guess where the recharger was? That's right down here 2 days drive away.

I must admit after all the fun & excitement it was quite a letdown to come home. We drove in to see barley grass gone to head everywhere. When I went to investigate my garden I found that what had survived the drought (as in wasn't watered) had been eaten by the rogue cows (that meat had better taste nice!).
Also all my chickens had been taken by a fox because "someone' had left the cage unlocked. (OK I may have a few issues!!!LOL) I was really upset over this as I've been expecting many eggs come spring. Oh well I'll just have to get a new bunch to name ( & hopefully they'll be better breeders).
Anyway I'll stop rabbiting on....just want to say
HAPPY SPRING!!!!! to all the southern hemisphere dwellers!

Wow! A great picture of your granny. I know how hard it is to get a good pic of elderly rellies. That one will be treasured. I'm sorry about the chickens, but glad you and the kids had a great time.
Happy Spring to you too, sweet Renata! I'm so happy you have enjoyed such a lovely time away seeing so many friends and family. :) Yes, it has been horribly hot and yes, you do look like your Mum!!!
So sorry to hear about the garden and chooks- my lot got out and ate/dug up EVERYTHING I had growing and I was in tears over that! Guess this 'farm life' (even in the suburbs) isn't really smooth sailing. Hope you enjoy getting some new chickies and that you all settle in to being home again. Must be nice to be home with Dave, I bet he has missed you very much!
Love, Saminda xoxo
YAY! You're back!
I was just telling my husband last night that you hadn't posted in so long, and I was really missing you.
Glad you had a lovely holiday, and that the medical issue wasn't serious. So sorry about the chickens though. That would be very discouraging!
Glad you are back!!! And had a wonderful holiday!!! Looks like you had alot of fun!
Hi Renata,
Glad you enjoyed your holiday, we endured the 36 degree day too, here in NSW.
My chickens are not in my good books, they have learned how to scale the fence and they demolished my rhubarb patch! You are going to rename your next batch! We decided that our chickens would be nameless after the first lot were taken by a serial killer (one or two each night), we lost Frodo and friends and some Star Wars characters too!
What a gorgeous looking bunch!!! (lol) - was that the worst picture you could find of the whole group?????? It has cooled down considerably up here now - must have heated up just for you southerners!!! Anyway, lovely to see the pictures. We're missing you all already. Pity Mr L can't move his museum to somewhere like the Sunny coast !!!!!!!!! Oh well, lots & lots & lots of love to you all. Lots of love, Mum xxxxxxxxxx
Hey, hey. Glad you had a good time away. Must be good to see Dave again. May your new chickens be good chickens, and the cows keep out of your garden. :)
Hi Narn,
